Freaking Out at 40 Copyright 2005 Glen Snethun

I recently turned 40 and become acutely aware of two major truths in my life. I’m a baby boomer and retirement isn’t very far away. Freak out time or what?

I wasn’t anywhere close to even thinking about retirement and certainly wasn’t prepared! Where has the time gone? Only old people worry about their retirement and I’m certainly not old, or am I? I prefer to view myself as maturing in years and wisdom.

What is this baby boomer thing all about anyway? I quickly learned that there was a lot to know about us “boomers” and that we are headed for a DEMOGRAPHIC TITAL WAVE OF GARGANTUAN PROPORTIONS!

Don't believe me? Take a look at this. In 1926, people lived to be 59 years old. Today, people retire at 60 and live to 80.

Look even closer at this group -- 43% of them (12 and over) are boomers! There'll never be enough rocking chairs or blankets - not to mention money -to keep all of us boomers comfy in our retirement.

WAKE UP EVERYONE - boomer mass retirement is coming and it's a demographic tidal wave.

What's a poor boomer to do? I figured the best bet was to get informed. I started asking myself some tough questions:

What does my pension plan from work really entail? How much will I get from my government pension plan? Do I need to purchase less risky investments? How much money will I really need to live from 60 to 80? How much more will I need if I want to travel? What will my income streams be? Then it struck me! All questions aside, I'm responsible for my own financial future. I knew it in my head, but I hadn’t accepted it in my heart.

I got busy and started looking for ways to not only top off my retirement income, but also to generate multiple long-term income streams. I searched briefly at the local level but soon discovered that the Internet was the place to be.

As you know, the Internet provides the opportunity for all sorts of different income streams. The key is to find something with an established, reputable company that provides an opportunity that isn't going to be obsolete in six months.

And they have to provide a service that you and I can believe in. My previous 22 years in the business community has been based on honesty, truth and integrity and I'm not about to lower my standards now! I'm sure the same goes for you.

With some hard work and due diligence, I found exactly what I was looking for and my retirement vision is becoming a reality (to the tune of $100,000+ per year). Yours can too!

Take advantage of the Internet to secure multiple income streams. Do your homework and be choosy. Your retirement is up to YOU! Do what YOU need to do to ensure that you're not "Freaking Out at 60".
