Get Out Of The Muck Copyright 2005 Glen Snethun

Have you ever wondered what differentiates the wealthy, the successful and the prosperous from those who struggle financially? Are they smarter? Do they work harder? In most cases, the answer is "no". They simply have discovered a recipe for success. A recipe for wealth and an abundant life. And above all, I believe they no longer live in "muck".

A while back (since I turned the big "40") I began to take a very serious look at my life and the direction I was headed. You know what I discovered? I wasn’t headed anywhere, I was stuck in the "muck"!

What is this "muck" you ask? See if my definition sounds familiar:

#1) I had way too much debt. Credit cards, credit lines, mortgages, 2nd mortgages! This is the deepest, most consuming "muck" for those who struggle financially. Like a car stuck on a back road, I would never stop spinning my wheels if I didn't eliminate at least some of my debt.

#2) I was a money worrier! In this "muck", I'd spent so much time worrying and focusing on how broke I was that I never even knew a "prosperity mindset" existed. Finally someone told me that I was attracting into my life exactly what I focused on. That hit me between the eyeballs. Hmmmm!

#3) The third kind of very daunting and limiting "muck" was, if you can believe it, ungratefulness. You all know the routine. Have the home, health, family, etc. but still aren't happy. Can any of you relate? Again, I was told that until I focused those energies on the abundance aspect of my life, more abundance would not flow.

So, like little Johnny who is stuck in a mud hole with his rubber boots on, and wants to free himself. What does he do? Does he scream for help, does he try to get out in his socks? Until Johnny has a plan - nothing will happen!

And so it was for me. When I finally got good and tired of being broke and decided that I'd had enough of being stuck, enough of getting rescued by lenders, enough of being left behind, I finally made a plan and got busy

One last thing...don’t expect results over night, everyone has to pay their dues. That's the topic of next weeks article.
