Are You a Dreamer?
Are you a dreamer? Do you believe that dreams really can come true or
do you believe that life is all about luck?
I am one of those people who have a strong belief that we need to have
dreams to give us direction in life. Without them we often are just
floundering around, either complaining that we can never get ahead or
waiting to win the big lotto so our wildest dreams can finally come true.
Although I have fantasized about the big lotto win and thought of how
I could spend it, I realize that I can make many of my own dreams come
true by just believing they can. I am a firm believer in creating
your own destiny and the more complaining we do, the longer it will
take to get us there. Luck may play a part but I personally think
that faith, perseverance, intention and determination are the key
ingredients to seeing your dreams come to life.
Why do I believe so strongly- because many of my own personal dreams
have already come to be. Becoming a nurse, getting married, living on
the water, having beautiful children, traveling with friends, starting
a coaching practice, writing a book (Check out my book YumME MumME
Makeover-How to Balance Womanhood and Motherhood by Nurturing the ME
in MumME at www.seekingbalance.ca ) . These were all dreams that I am
now living.
Look around at people you admire or envy for where they are in their
life. The reason many of them have gotten there is because they had a
dream and believed enough in themselves to make it come true.
As we age and become more overwhelmed with the demands of our lives,
our goals and dreams get pushed down, often deep down. So, how do we
revive them? Start by journaling. What is it that you would love to
do, where do you want to go, what do you want to have? Are you happy
in your job? If not, what is your dream career? Begin asking
yourself lots of questions like these and record the answers in your
journal. Even better-start a collage. Cut out pictures of the things
you would love to have in your life. The pictures you choose can be a
real indicator of your passions.
The ability to shape your life the way you desire is at your
fingertips. It starts with getting a clear picture of what kind of
life you want to be living. I achieved my dreams because I knew what
I wanted then I started setting goals and taking action to get me there.
Remember that dreams are what life is made of so get out your wish
list and take a step today, towards making one of them come true!
