About this product: A waffle baker, grill, and griddle, this three-in-one appliance comes in handy during breakfast, lunch, dinner, and after school. Key to the unit's versatility are two 8-inch-square cooking plates--one set into the product's bottom and the other into the hinged top. On one side the plates form grids for making four waffles at once. Flipped over to show their flat sides they're capable of top and bottom grilling a sandwich or steak. To create griddle space, the top opens up flat, forming two 8-inch-square cooking surfaces for all foods that love a griddle--such as pancakes, hash browns, and eggs. Channels send grease to spouts in the griddles' corners, where it drains away. Nonstick to release food easily and wipe clean, the cooking plates also can be removed for scrubbing. A heat control offers high, low, and medium temperatures. With its chrome housing and stay-cool black synthetic handles, this 900-watt appliance looks great on the counter. Afterward, the cord wraps around the hinge, plus you can stand the unit upright for compact storage. It measures 11-1/4 inches wide, 5 inches high, and 11-3/4 inches deep and carries a one-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

About this product: On April 24th, Elf Power return with their Rykodisc debut, Back to the Web, a haunting, twisting journey weaving its way through heavy psychedelic haze, to soulful, melodic folk, to stomping T Rex-styled rock. Back to the Web is full of the band's signature, lovely pop melodies, but a distinct progression is evident in the songwriting and the lush, full production. The folkier tunes are laced with strings and the heavier ones scream psychedelia; influences of Bob Dylan and Wall-era Pink Floyd can be detected. Singer/songwriter Andrew Rieger comments, "I was listening to a lot of middle eastern folk and gypsy music when I started writing these songs and I tried to emulate some of those sounds by combining 12 string acoustic guitar with violin and accordion. Our last album was more of a straight ahead rock record, so in reaction this one came out as more of a dark, orchestrated folk rock album." Formed in Athens, GA in 1994, Elf Power was spawned from the legendary Elephant 6 collective that also produced Olivia Tremor Control, Neutral Milk Hotel, Of Montreal and Apples In Stereo. The band has spent the past twelve years making albums and touring the globe, sharing bills with the likes of R.E.M., Dinosaur Jr., Wilco and Guided By Voices.
About this product: Long before Detroit became an adjective, the Romantics were delivering REAL rock 'n' roll with a fire and conviction that was downright palpable. Power pop gems like "That's What I Like About You" and "When I Look In Your Eyes" set a new standard for the genre, injecting it with an urgency and a raw passion that could only come from the Motor City. This fall the foursome returns with "61/49," its most rock solid offering in years. Named for the storied crossroads near Clarksdale, mississippi where bluesman Robert Johnson made his pact with the devil, "61/49" is intended as a tip of the hat to the roots of rock 'n' roll and the nucleus of the Romantics' fervent pop.
"61/49" features members Wally Palmar, Mike Skill, Coz Canler, and their current drummer Clem Burke (a founding member of Blondie and now a permanent member of the Romantics). The album's opening track, "Devil In Me" exudes the sexy swagger that is the hallmark of the band's sound while its first single, "Out Of My Mind (Into My Head)" showcases Palmar's ruggedly charismatic voice and flair for melody.

About this product: These scissors offer way more cutting power than just about anyone can muster with muscle alone, and best of all, it's effortless. You can't help but love a product that makes life so much easier, especially for folks who suffer from arthritis.
You can cut nearly anything with these, from delicate pattern paper to sheet vinyl flooring and window screening, with just the press of a button. Our favorite job for these, though, is to easily slice into that impossible-to-open, hard plastic packaging that seems to be on most everything these days. It's no match for these scissors.
When power scissors first came out, there wasn't too much concern about ergonomics, but we know so much more these days about how important that is. Black & Decker's made this power tool a treat for the body to use, with a nice cushy grip, super light weight and no force needed.
One charge will keep you cutting for 70 minutes, and then you just plug it in and charge it again. There's no end to what you can use these power scissors for - gift wrapping, sewing, scrapbooking, decorating, jobs around the house, crafts, clipping coupons. --Kris Jensen-Van Heste
