About this product: It is an excellent collection of classical music. I would recommend this CD if you have a friend who don't like classical music, since it has the most beautiful overtures and portions of famous artists. If you are a Classic Music Savvy you probably will not be impressed by it, unless you want to play the CD as background music in a friends gathering.
About this product: This is an astonishing collection of works - or parts of works - by Mozart that covers almost every aspect of his creative output: symphonic, religious music, concerti (for piano, horn, violin, clarinet, flute), chamber music, serenades (for strings; winds), a couple of opera overtures and more. Those who know and love Mozart's music will not need this, but it's a great introduction, a great overview. The selections are well-chosen and interestingly organized, with familiar pieces splrinkled among some not-so well known. A good primer. --Robert Levine
About this product: I was looking forward to Turandot at the Met with Domingo! Disappointment often follows anticipation. The set was truly outstanding, the grandeur of the era was displayed. This performance is over 20 years old; Domingo was in his prime - a tenor hunk! But the magic, the chemistry between him and Marton was lacking. The one who stole the show was Liu - Leona Mitchell. A voice of an angel, innocent and full of emotion. The entire opera lacked believability. The story itself is unbelievable, so it takes a master director to make the audience be transported to China to witness this love story. It was the first time I have even seen Calaf sing Nessum Dorma seated! He looked very uncomfortable. Marton was truly an ice goddess but even when she realized then end result, she was cold. This was also reflected in her voice.

What follows is an adventure that takes her through battle zones--where the bodies pile up faster than you can say Saving Private Ryan--and on to London with a half-orphaned baby, her best friend's injured husband, and a tangle of international intrigue. Fans of the 10-book series may balk at the divergences and the fact that very little time is spent on Prince Edward Island. But the book's unrestrained romanticism and unapologetic sentimentality remain intact, as well as the surviving cast of the prior two movies, most notably Megan Follows as Anne and Jonathan Crombie as Gilbert.
