About this product: Brand New!! Airlink 8 port 10/100 Fast Ethernet Switch with 4 Power Over Ethernet (POE) Ports!!
Factory Sealed, Never Opened!!
NOT Refurbished!!
Performance rivals those from others at a small fraction of their prices!!
Engineered by Airlink, Fremont, California, USA, which is near the Silicon Valley where innovation has been the spirit for decades.
PoE allows sending data and power over the same Cat5 cables for the PoE devices. The 8-port switch make file-sharing and data transfer faster then ever while 4 ports supporting state of art PoE devices.
The switch port number 1 - 4 are POE ports, which work (auto sensing) on both legacy (traditional network device such as a PC) and PoE devices (device based on new technology which gets power from the Ethernet cable). Port 5 - 8 works with legacy devices (i.e., Non PoE devices).
Questions about Power over Ethernet?
PoE devices get power over the Ethernet cable, similar to many corded phones, which get enough power from the phone cable to ring, to send voices and to hear voices.
PoE devices run on the power over the ethernet cable, these devices may not have power adapter, because having to find external power outlet can be a hassle. The benefit of using PoE device is obvious in certain applications and there will be more PoE network devices coming to the market. Ethernet switch with PoE ports is needed to connect the PoE devices to the network. For example, many VoIP phones need to connect to PoE ports for both (audio data) TCP/IP packet communication and power.
Because PoE is a state of art technology. There are switches with PoE ports using the same standard IEEE protocol from other companies are being sold for $$$ or more.
Compare the price/performance ratio!!
