About this product: I own eight books on routers and routing. Four of them are by Pat Warner. Once I read one of his books I had to have all the others and no other author would do.
Pat's video (DVD) does not disappoint, and seeing the operations described in his books enriches them both.
I wish it was longer, mostly because I love watching Pat work and seeing how the jigs and templates he has designed and built produce such beautiful results. But I think he spent the right amount of time to show the full set of operations.
About this product: Training the Versatile Hunting Dog shows you how to develop a great hunting dog with Chuck's new approach. This approach emphasizes letting your young dog first develop his natural abilities: use of nose, desire, cooperation, search, pointing, and tracking. Then, after his first season, Chuck shows you how to put the controls on your dog with chapters on the trained retrieve and whoa training. The versatile breeds also love water, and there are detailed chapters showing you how to train your dog to be an outstanding water retriever. Chuck also covers how to pick a pup, the importance of early socialization, introducing your pup to gunfire and to birds. This is a revolutionary book written for the popular versatile hunting breeds: German shorthair, wirehair, griffon, Vizsla, and Weimaraner among others. Each instructive chapter has a detailed explanation of the training techniques, along with numerous illustrative photos. There are also detailed plans for building a quail call-back pen, a pigeon pen, and a dog kennel along with a list of dog training suppliers and various hunting dog organizations.
About this product: An inspiring story of struggle and success.
Peter Pakosh was born to poor immigrants and raised on a remote Canadian farm. This is the story of his dream of making farming easier for his family and farmers everywhere. Today, his Versatile farm machinery company is recognized the world over for its outstanding and dominant product line.
Young Pakosh left the farm to take a job as a draftsman for the farm implement giant Massey Harris in Toronto. Soon Pakosh began designing and producing grain augers and sprayers in the basement of his small Toronto home. By the late 1970s, his Versatile tractors captured a 30% market share of large tractor sales in North America.
Versatile was the first to mass-produce four-wheel-drive tractors and the first to develop the bi-directional tractor (pushing or pulling with equal power). The company has long been a leader on the global agricultural scene and Ford, New Holland and Fiat have all had ownership roles in Versatile. Today this company thrives as Buhler Versatile Inc. and is recognized for its innovation and dependability.
Lavishly illustrated with contemporary and archival photographs, as well as selections from company catalogs from decades past, this book is a must-have for any tractor or farm history buff.

About this product: If you have not already heard about solitons, you will sooner or later encounter them. The soliton, a solitary wave impulse preserving its shape and strikingly similar to a particle, is one of the most fascinating and beautiful phenomena in the physics of nonlinear waves. In this engaging book, the concept of the soliton is traced from the beginning of the last century to modern times, with recent applications in biology, oceanography, solid state physics, electronics, elementary particle physics, and cosmology. The main concepts and results of theoretical physics related to solitons can be explained without using much mathematics. Indeed, on the descriptive and historical level, only some knowledge of high school physics and mathematics is needed. At a higher level, for understanding the elementary theory of oscillations and waves, the reader can intuit much from the numerous illustrations and perhaps skip the formulas presented. But to appreciate the deep connections in this book between apparently different and diverse phenomena and ideas, the reader must be able to follow elementary mathematical computations. Still more advanced mathematics is required for the appendices.

About this product: By-products of global biodiesel manufacturing are a global fact and the immense amount of glycerol by-product stacking unsold until mid 2005 gave a visual image of the huge loss of energy and material resources. This was due to the lack of suitable conversion processes for this, the oldest organic molecule known to man, despite various experiments by some biodiesel producers. The large surplus of glycerol by-product which entered the chemical market has caused closure of existing glycerol plants and the discovery of processes that use glycerol as a raw material for the production of value-added chemicals and even of energy. This was followed by 3-4 years of intense research activity worldwide, where human chemical ingenuity opened up a number of practical avenues to convert glycerol into value added products of mass consumption. For instance, the batteries of your laptop and iPod, as well as your car's antifreeze will soon be based on glycerol, the same sweet viscous substance currently present in soaps. Reporting and commenting on such achievements this book aims to inform chemistry professionals, including managers and technologists, on the large potential of glycerol as versatile biofeedstock for the production of a variety of chemicals, polymers and fuels. Whilst filling a gap in the current literature, this nicely illustrated book is written in a clear, concise style and presents the numerous uses of glycerol as a new raw material which are starting to have an impact on industry worldwide. Elucidation of the principles governing the new chemistry of glycerol goes along with updated industrial information that is generally difficult to retrieve. Through its 10 chapters, the monograph tells the story of a chemical success -- that of converting glycerol into value added products -- and highlight the principles that made it possible. Whether as solvent, antifreeze, detergent, monomer for textiles or drug, new catalytic conversions of glycerol have been discovered that are finding application for the synthesis of products whose use range from everyday life to the fine chemical industry. Readers are also shown how a number of practical limitations posed by glycerol chemistry, such as the low selectivity encountered employing traditional stoichiometric and older catalytic conversions, were actually solved based on the understanding of the fundamental chemistry of glycerol and by application of catalysis science and technology. Readers also find a thorough discussion on the sustainability issues of bioglycerol production covering societal, environmental and economic dimensions to reflect the needs of politicians and citizens of today who require cross border research. By explaining the advantages and problems as well as offering solutions the book aids understanding as to whether biodiesel and glycerol refineries are convenient and economically sound. Chemical research on glycerol has shown that given a strong economic input, chemists are able to rapidly devise a whole set of new upgrading processes for the biorefinery and that the latter integrated unity for production energy and chemicals is not just dream of environmentally-minded scientists but an inevitable reality of today. Due to the ever decreasing energy return on energy invested, global society is being forced to switch from fossil to renewable fuels until cheap and abundant energy of solar origin becomes a reality. In this evolution, biofuels, particularly biodiesel, will certainly play a role and therefore, glycerol will be a key raw material for the biorefinery for many years to come. Dealing with such a hot topic of urgent scientific and commercial interest, this is a true "living book" in which updates will be posted yearly on the RSC website. The book's users include industry's top managers and management consultants and also R&D and marketing managers. Along with technical content of a high quality, this is also a strategic book for top managers of the chemical, biofuel, oleochemical and detergent industries.
