About this product:
DayClocks - The Day At A Glance! When The Day Is More Important Than The Hour! Changing The Face Of Time!H The Day Clock Was Born: The idea for the ultimate retirement gift was born in the heart of the Black Rock Desert of Nevada in the middle of July. Mark Pierce and John Kallestad had been dirt sailing for several days knowing their wives would be showing up on Friday. The problem was they didn't know what day it was and their wristwatches only gave them the date, which didn't help. After several beers around the campfire the idea for the DayClock was born. A result was a clock, which gave them the only information they required--what day, it is. Our patented design divides the face of a clock into 7 equal pie shaped sections, one for each day of the week. The day hand moves continuously making a complete revolution every 168 hours or once a week. The lines dividing the days indicate midnight. The midpoint above each day indicates noon. Halfway between the midpoint and each line indicates 6:00 A.M. and 6:00 P.M. Features: Color: Oak Measures: 9.25"In Diameter The Clever Clock For ASlower P Is Just What You Need For That Special Someone!

Alberta Hunter - My Castle's Rockin'

About this product:
Winner of...
The American Film Festival- Blue Ribbon
The American Film & Video Festival- Red Ribbon
A Special Interest Video Award (SIVA) Finalist

This award-winning concert film portrays the life of a legendary singer/songwriter, known for her independent spirit and often naughty lyrics. After achieving success for over 40 years with starring roles on Broadway, international tours, and more than a dozen hits, including Downhearted Blues, which became Bessie Smith's biggest hit…Alberta left show business at age 62 to become a nurse.

Twenty years later, at age 82 (the hospital thought she was 70), she was forced to retire. Still full of energy, she returned to singing and made a critically acclaimed comeback, one that made her even more popular. Live from The Cookery in New York, her voice full and rich, hands gesturing and winking at the audience, Hunter proves to be a consummate showwoman to the end.

Alberta opened her personal archives to Producer/Director Stuart Goldman and shared materials never seen before, as well as her last filmed interview prior to her death in 1984 at age 89. In addition to her own provocative and witty performances, this film, narrated by Billy Taylor, features the music of her friends and colleagues Louis Armstrong, Eubie Blake, Bessie Smith, and Fats Waller.

Keeping Up Appearances - How to Enhance Your Husband's Retirement
$19.98

About this product:
This video contains 3 entertaining installments from the successful British comedy "Keeping Up Appearances". For those who are not too familiar with the series, "Keeping Up Appearances" is about Hyacinth Bucket (pronounced bouquet) and her attempts to climb the social ladder at any cost. She tries her best to reach the top of the social strata but always seems to stumble, usually with a little help from her poor but down to earth relatives and their problems. In "How To Retire Early If You're Not Careful", Hyacinth begins to plan how she and her husband Richard will spend their time together now that he's retired. Instead of fun and relaxing hobbies, Hyacinth drags Richard out to look for relics of a lost civilization. Later on she has to intervene when her younger and melodramatic sister Rose begins to behave strangely. In "How To Go On Holiday Without Really Trying" Hyacinth schemes to impress her neighbors and friends by creating the illusion that she and Richard are going on an expensive luxury cruise. Finally, in "What To Wear When Yachting" Hyacinth and Richard get the opportunity to spend the weekend aboard a yacht where Hyacinth plans an elaborate buffet for her friends and family. Of course seeing as neither of them have had any experience with yachts, there's bound to be a hilarious disaster. This is a great collection of three of the funniest episodes from this hilarious comedy. It's also a fun place to start if you're just discovering this British comedy. Patricia Routledge is terrific as Hyacinth Bucket and Clive Swift is perfect as Hyacinth's long-suffering husband Richard. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Keeping Up Appearances - How to Enhance Your Husband's Retirement
$7.98

About this product:
Richard second-guesses his decision to stay at home when retirement simply means more obligation to his real boss, Hyacinth, in these three leisure-themed 28-minute episodes from the BBC. The lady of the house has her husband both up a tree and up a ladder in "How to Retire Early If You're Not Careful." Whether looking for Iron Age remains or a despairing teddy-clad Rose, Richard is up to the task. A weekend on a moored yacht strikes Hyacinth as the perfect opportunity to dazzle the neighbors in "What to Wear When Yachting." But a motorboat isn't very impressive and neither is a spill in the lake, as the waterlogged couple discovers. The final installment, "How to Go on Holiday Without Really Trying," finds Hyacinth making bogus plans to take an expensive cruise so she can outdo a neighbor who once snubbed her, but there's nothing grand about Richard in a bar with brother-in-law Onslow on a Sunday morning, nor about the married vicar with a suggestively clothed Rose in his arms, now, is there? --Kimberly Heinrichs

DVD
A Grandpa for Christmas
$7.43

About this product:
If "To err is human, to forgive divine," that counts double during the holidays. When her single mother, Marie (Tracy Nelson), is injured in a traffic accident, 10-year-old Becca (Joan of Arcadia's Juliette Goglia), is left without a guardian. Due to a rift in the family, she's never met her grandfather, Bert (Golden Globe nominee Ernest Borgnine), who also lives in Los Angeles. Long divorced from his wife, who has since passed away, Bert is also alone, except for a community of retired actors and agents. When a social worker asks if he can take care of Becca until Marie recovers, he's happy to try. At first, Becca just wants to sulk, but then she starts to enjoy the company of her grandfather and his friends, like the piano-playing Roxie (Soap's Katherine Helmond) and chess-playing Karl (All of Me's Richard Libertini). With their encouragement, she participates in her school's Christmas pageant. With Marie on the mend, things are looking up for Becca, so it comes as a disappointment that her mother can't see the goodness in Bert, who's doing his best to make up for lost time. Marie only remembers how hurt she felt when her parents split up and has always blamed Bert, but sees him in a new light when she finds out the whole story. Produced for the Hallmark Channel, A Grandpa for Christmas finds the right balance between realism and wish fulfillment, and the 90-year-old Borgnine gives one of his most enjoyable performances to date. --Kathleen C. Fennessy
