About this product: The GMAT Sentence Correction is what massacres their most people's GMAT score. This book provides GMAT SC coverage better than any book I know.
The previous edition of MGMAT Sentence Correction was decent. But it only covered part of what is tested on the GMAT. This version has largely resolved that problem.
This book covers many areas such as "complex verbs that act as nouns" which is not covered in the previous version. The anonymous authors of this book are apparently high level experts of not only GMAT SC but also general grammar.
GMAT has changed over the years and it has become a substantially different test. The Official Guides no longer provides an accurate guidance of the type and the difficulty level of the actual GMAT questions. If you have taken GMAT Prep (provided free by providers of GMAT), then you will know what I mean.
I have purchased the previous MGMAT SC, PowerPrep SC, and this book. By a wide margin, this book provides the best coverage of both the range and the difficulty level of the real GMAT SC questions.
This is not a short book and you will need to master every inch of it to do well on the GMAT SC. I highly recommend it as the primary source for GMAT SC studies.
About this product: GMAT has been getting more difficult over the years. If you have any doubt, take the GMAT Prep (just google it) and compare the level of difficulty with the Offical Guides. The difference is very substantial.
Unfortunately, most GMAT prep companies, includng MGMAT, have been behind he curve of the changes.
But you are in luck as this new MGMAT book succeeds where other books, includng the previous edition of MGMAT number properties book, have failed. This new edition provides a very comprehensive explanation of GMAT number properties (primes, odd and evens, postive and negative, consecutive intgers, exponents, roots etc) which the previous version was lacking. Most importantly, this book is far better at emulating the difficulty and types of questions of the current GMAT test.
Number properties is perhaps one of the most difficult components of GMAT Quant section. Although GMAT tests only high school math, do not mistake its quant section for an SAT. For example, how many prime factors (odd or even) does a perfect square of an integer have? Can you find the total number of factors (not just prime factors) of number 2000 in under 2 minutes? Even if you are good in math, you probably can't without the help of this book. And yes, GMAT does ask you such questions which you should answer in 2 minutes or less.

Nothing can stand in their way, especially with Becky’s bills miles away in London. But then an unexpected disaster threatens her career prospects, her relationship with Luke, and her available credit line! Shopaholic Takes Manhattan—but will she have to return it?
Are the product of 3 consecutive integers divisible by 2? how about 3,4, and 8?
What is the units digit of 3^107?
If you have any doubts on how to answers these types of questions, and most people do, you need this book.
The explanations on how to best solve problems are very good. Yet the book suffers from what appears to be two different authors writing the explanations and the problems. The same type of problems are not always provided the same type of solutions.
This book is a vast improvement over the previous edition. The GMAT has changed over the years and the previous version did not address all the changes. This book rectifies that. You can be assured many of the concepts outlined in this book will be tested in the real thing.
Although the GMAT quant section only tests high school level math, do not confuse it with the SAT. It is way tougher and far more abstract. Furthermore, your high school math is probably very rusty by now. If you are unconvinced, please spit out the quadratic formula (which you must have used zillion times in HS) right now. If you can't do it in 5 seconds, then you are rusty.
I am torn whether to give this book a 4 or 5 stars. So I would give it 4.5 stars. It is very worthwhile book and you will not regret the purchase unless you are already a math geek.
About this product: In 2002, oil was $22 a barrel. Now it is well over $100 a barrel, with no end in sight. The average person is in shock at the price of a tank of gas. Is this shortage for real, or is it made up, just like the shortages in the 1970's? And either way, what can be done about it? “I wanted to know what the truth is, and what our options are,” says author Jeff Wilson. “I found that if I dig deep enough, I can find the facts, do the math, and see just where we are at. Also, it became quite clear just how we should deal with this situation.” Framed as a legislative agenda for the next president to take office in 2009, this book provides a comprehensive analysis of the situation, an examination of the options, and develops the first truly comprehensive energy plan. In it, you will find facts, analyses, and perspectives that you won’t find anywhere else.
About this product: Born out of a small research program that began in 1939, the Manhattan Project brought together the cream of the scientific community and the military to create and perfect a weapon more powerful than any the world had known. Racing against time as the war raged in Europe and Asia, and against our enemies, whom we feared were pursuing similar ends, the Project would eventually employ more than 125,000 people and cost a total of over $2 billion—and the entire operation was conducted under a shroud of secrecy, at remote sites around the country.
This groundbreaking book—the first of its kind—collects the writings and thoughts of the original participants in the Manhattan Project, along with pieces by the most important historians and interpreters of the subject. It is a rich and comprehensive compilation of documents, essays, articles, and excerpts from histories, biographies, plays, novels, letters, oral histories, and more, and is the freshest, most multi-faceted exploration yet of the topic. Including material by and about J. Robert Oppenheimer, Leo Szilard, Albert Einstein, Richard Feynman, Leslie Groves, Klaus Fuchs, Henry Stimson, Vannevar Bush, Harry S. Truman, Niels Bohr, and many other key figures, it also collects the writings and testimony of those in the trenches at the Project, their families, and local eyewitnesses. Finally, the book includes thoughts and concerns about the bomb, set down in the aftermath of its deployment, by politicians, writers, artists, and others who saw that the world would never again be the same.
Assembled with authority and care by the president of the Atomic Heritage Foundation—in cooperation with a team of advising historians that included the Pulitzer Prize-winning Richard Rhodes—The Manhattan Project is an invaluable addition to the historical record as well as a gripping narrative of scientific discovery, military strategy, and moral reflection.
